How Do You Prepare For Your Upcoming Coolsculpting Treatment?

CoolScuplting is a newer, non-surgical innovation treatment that is being used to reduce fat. The treatment safely kills fat deposits and cells by freezing them, which effectively reduces the amount of fat that you have on your body. If you have never undergone a CoolSculpting treatment, then you may not know how to prepare for your appointment. Here are a few things that you can do to ensure that your initial treatment is more positive and enjoyable.

Avoid Any Anti-Inflammatory Medications

Ibuprofen, aspirin, and naproxen sodium are considered anti-inflammatories that are used for pain relief. Drugs like these should be avoided for roughly one week prior to your treatment. These medications can interact with the platelets that are found within your blood, resulting in anticoagulant effects that can increase the duration and volume of bleeding. Though the CoolSculpting procedure itself is safe, taking anti-inflammatories prior to the treatment can worsen mild bruising that you may have after the procedure.

Don't Change Your Diet or Exercise Regimen

Ideal candidates for CoolSculpting procedures are in relatively good shape but struggle with fatty areas that they simply can't get rid of with regular diet and exercise. Because you already have a healthy diet and exercise regiment, it is important that you don't change either of them prior to or following the treatment. CoolSculpting is a spot treatment, so if you neglect your diet or exercise routine, you may experience unintentional weight gain.

Focus on Being Clean and Comfortable

Talk to your doctor about any anti-aging or skin care products that you should avoid prior to the treatment, as there may be certain products that could impact how the device operates. On the day of your treatment, make sure that you take a shower so that your skin is skin. You also want to dress in comfortable clothing that allows the physician easy access to the area(s) that is being treated. Avoid wearing jewelry or makeup that may hinder access to the treatment access or interfere with the treatment device.

Bring Some Entertainment for the Procedure

Depending on your individual treatment plan, your CoolSculpting session will last between 35 to 60 minutes. You will be unable to get up during this time, so you should bring along some form of entertainment to keep you occupied—something that doesn't involve much movement. You should plan to read a book, listen to music, do a crossword puzzle, etc.
