Looking For Allergy Relief? Try Inhaling Essential Oils

If you suffer from seasonal allergies and cannot find relief from the medicine you take, it might be time to try something different. Essential oils are natural oils that are made from trees, leaves, and flowers, and they can be used to treat allergy symptoms. There are numerous types of oils you can use for this purpose, and here is one method that works well for using essential oils for allergy relief.   


Seasonal allergies cause a plethora of symptoms, including runny nose, watery eyes, tickling nose, coughing, congestion, and itchy eyes. By inhaling certain types of essential oils, you may be able to relieve or reduce some of these common symptoms. This is possible with the right oils because essential oils can:

You can apply some oils topically and breathe them in while they are on your body, or you can use them in other ways. An example of this is placing oil in your bath. As you soak in the tub, you can breathe in the fumes created by the oil.

Another option is to place the oil in a pot of hot water and breathe in the steam from the water. You could also place a few drops of oil on a cotton ball and sniff it when you feel the symptoms starting.

While there are many types of oils that can help relieve your allergies, these are some of the best types to inhale:

  • Lavender – Lavender has a pleasant, sweet smell and can help relieve allergies because it is considered a natural anti-inflammatory product.
  • Peppermint – Peppermint oil is often used for headache relief and back pain, but it may also be useful for treating allergies. When you inhale peppermint, it helps in several ways. It is considered a natural pain reliever, it soothes, and it also helps open up clogged airways.
  • Eucalyptus – A third oil to try is eucalyptus oil, and you can safely inhale this through any of the methods listed above. This oil reduces inflammation and serves as an expectorant.
